This Record Deserves Conviction

June 17, 2001

Last year George W. Bush admitted that he didn’t know much about world affairs, but he assured voters that his staff could handle it if he were elected. Despite California’s vigorous opposition, enough Americans believed him to enable him to gain the White House.

What has George W. Bush and his administration achieved so far?

His election immediately plunged America into a financial downturn, which has grown into a full economic crisis that experts say may last for years.

His Vice President revealed he may be physically unfit to hold office for a full term.

Bush appointed the most divisive Attorney General in recent history, whose stated goal in life is to overturn federal law guaranteeing a woman’s right to control her own body.

He banned US funding for international family planning and AIDS prevention during the worldwide AIDS epidemic.

Bush immediately offended Japan by killing 9 Japanese students, while risking a US nuclear submarine to provide joy rides for his campaign contributors.

Then he taunted and offended both China and Russia, while initiating the Chinese spy-plane incident that compromised major US security systems.

His administration helped shoot down a civilian plane in Peru, killing the pilot and a missionary woman with family.

He declared dead the UN/Kyoto Accords on global warming, which had been developed over 8 years by 186 countries.

He offended the entire United Nations by ignoring anti-ballistic missile treaties, instead proposing a new Star Wars arms race.

He and his party refused to pay our UN dues, making us the world’s biggest deadbeat nation.

He proposes increasing our military forces to strike anywhere around the world, threatening the UN with an image of the US as the world’s biggest and most dangerous “rogue state.”

The UN has lost so much confidence in America they voted us off the Human Rights Commission and the International Drug Monitoring Board for the first time in history.

Bush initiated an Office of Faith-Based Programs to put religion, and his religious contributors, on the federal payroll. Taxing Americans to pay for religion is illegal, a clear violation of the American Constitution and our hard-won 225-year independence from state-church control.

He refused to help California solve its electrical power problems, which are making his Texas companies wealthy at our expense. He then used California’s electrical problems to threaten a nationwide energy crisis, proposing doubling of gasoline prices and oil drilling in national parks.

What a record! In just a few months, George Bush and his Republicans have already damaged America in ways that will take years to repair.

These were the same people that wanted to impeach Bill Clinton merely because he had a girlfriend! But a whole harem of presidential girlfriends wouldn’t damage America’s reputation and future success like George W. Bush has already done.

His brief record already reads like the definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
